Mikhail Ivanovich Kononov(April 25, 1940 – July 16, 2007) was a Soviet actor known mostly for tragic comedy roles. His most known roles were in moviesNachalnik Chukotki (Chief of Chukotka),V ogne broda net (No Crossing Under Fire),Na Voyne kak na Voyne (At War as at War),Gostya iz budushchego (Guest from the Future). In 1990s-2000s he rarely appeared in films and mostly refused the proposed roles. Mikhail Kononov died of pneumonia after myocardial infarction in 2007, aged 67.
