Oliver Stone is an Academy Award-winning America writer/director who initially came to be known for receiving an Academy Award for writing the screenplay for the 1978 feature filmMidnight Express. Stone would later gain prominence for helming such controversial films asJFK,Natural Born KillersandSnowden. A Vietnam veteran, Stone also chronicled his experiences in the war in his 1986 filmPlatoon, for which he was the recipient of the Academy Awards for Best Director and forBest Picture.
