Paul Scofieldwas an English actor of stage and screen. He was noted for his distinctive voice and delivery, Scofield received a Tony Award for his performance as Sir Thomas More in the 1962 stage playA Man for All Seasons, and an Academy Award for the same role in the 1966 film version. He also received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his performance in the seriesMale of the Species, making him one of only twenty-four actors to have achieved the "Triple Crown of Acting". Scofield was also one of the few persons to decline a British knighthood (three times), though he consented to being made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1956.
