In the end of the seventies he started his career as a producer and a director, buying a few samurai films fromLone Wolf and a Cubseries and re-directing and re-editing them in a single movie namedShogun Assassin, which was one of the highest grossing movies of 1980, which says a lot, considering that this was a year of blockbusters.
