Spangler Arlington Brugh, better known by his screen name Robert Taylor, was an American actor, one of the most popular leading men of his day. Taylor starred primarily in romance, war, and Western films, and also starred in the police procedural dramaThe Detectives. Throughout the early 1940s, Taylor was an ardent supporter of American entry into World War II and starred in several vehemently pro-Allies productions during the war and served in the US Navy as a flying instructor with the U.S. Naval Air Corps.
