Roy Dotrice,(26 May 1923 – 16 October 2017) was a British actor known for his Tony Award-winning Broadway performance in the revival ofA Moon for the Misbegotten. He appeared inAmadeus(1984) as Leopold Mozart (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's father) and the television seriesBeauty and the Beast(1987-1990) as Jacob Wells, the surrogate father toRon Perlman's Vincent. He was the father-in-law of actorsEdward WoodwardandAlex Hyde-White. Dotrice was awarded two Guinness World Records: his one-person play, "Brief Lives", based on the diaries of Elizabethan figure John Aubrey, played for over 1,700 performances, setting a record for solo performances by an actor; his second was awarded in 2004, for his audiobook performance of George R. R. Martin'sA Game of Thrones, with the highest number (224) of distinct character voices in a single audiobook.
