Sofia Costanza Brigida Villani Scicolone, better known as Sophia Loren, is an Italian actress. She is the recipient of numerous awards throughout her 70 year long career, and remembered as one of the most famed and popular leading women during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Encouraged to pursue acting at age 15, Loren initially starred in small roles in Italian-language productions before reaching international acclaim after signing a contract with Paramount Pictures in 1956. Loren has since appeared in almost 100 film and television roles, and is also regarded as one of the most iconic sex symbols in cinema history.
