Alan Arkin (1934-2023) was an Academy-Award winning American actor and director who is well known to movie audiences for his comedic roles in such films asCatch-22 (1970),The In-Laws (1979), andThe Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming, a role for which he received the first of three Academy Award nominations. He would receive the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2006 filmLittle Miss Sunshine. In addition, he has appeared in several dramatic roles in such films asArgo,Glengarry Glen RossandThe Rocketeerand directed several features, including 1971'sLittle Murders.
