Alan Thicke (1947-2016) was a Canadian-born actor perhaps best known for his role as the father Jason Seaver in the ABC sitcomGrowing Pains. He also was the host of the 1980's Canadian talk showThe Alan Thicke Showand later the US talk showThicke of the Night. He also worked as a television composer, creating themes for several game shows such asThe Jokers WildandCelebrity Sweepstakesand such sitcoms asThe Facts of LifeandDiff'rent Strokes. In addition, he was the father of singer Robin Thicke. He passed away from an apparent heart attack at the age of 69 on December 13, 2016.
