Conrad Veidt

Male

Conrad Veidt(January 22, 1893 - April 3, 1943) was a German actor known for his distinctive appearance and powerful performances. He gained fame in the 1920s, particularly for his role as the sleepwalker Cesare in the iconic silent filmDas Cabinet des Dr. Caligari(1920), a classic of German Expressionism. With his sharp facial features and intense gaze, Veidt was well-suited for portraying dark, mysterious characters. After the rise of the Nazis in 1933, Veidt emigrated to the UK, where he appeared in Hollywood films such asThe Thief of Bagdad(1940) andCasablanca(1942). InCasablanca, he played the Nazi officer Major Strasser, one of his most memorable roles.
