He had been working for several years when he achieved stardom playing the sexist boss Franklin Hart Jr inNine to Five(1980). He worked steadily for many years. In his later years he appeared in the mini-seriesBoardwalk Empireas Commodore Louis Kaestner as well as many guest appearances in such shows asNCIS,Ray DonovanandLaw & Order: Special Victims Unit. His final screen appearance was as John Dutton Jr. inYellowstone, episode: "Sins of the Father" (S2E10). He was 92 at the time of his death.
