Gina Lollobrigidawas born July 4, 1927 in Subiaco, Italy. In the 1940s she won the competitionMiss Romaand then in 1947 she finished as third inMiss Italy. Her acting career started in 1951 by the success of the movieAttention! Bandits! (Achtung! Banditi!)(1951). Thanks to blockbusters likeFanfan la Tulipe(1952),Bread, Love and Dreams(1953),Frisky(1954) andThe Hunchback of Notre Dame(1956) she became a real movie star. In the 1960s, other high-quality films followed, such asWoman of Straw(1964),Hotel Paradiso(1966) andBuona Sera, Mrs. Campbell(1968), for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe. She was married in 1949 to Slovenian doctor Milka Skofič, with whom she would give birth to her son Milka Skofić Jr. The marriage lasted until 1971. She was remarried in 2010 to Javier Rigau y Rafols, a Spanish businessman. That marriage was annulled in 2019 after years of legal turmoil. She passed away on January 16, 2023.
