Jean-Paul Belmondo(April 9, 1933 - September 6, 2021) was a French actor, one of the most famous French action films stars of the 1960s-1980s. Belmondo (Bébel, as he was known in France) started his screen career in late 1950s. His first leading role was in 1958 drama filmLes Copains du dimanche, and he got a major success afterConsider All RisksandBreathless. After a stroke in 2001, Belmondo rarely appeared on the screen. His last notable work was a 2009 filmA Man and His Dog. Belmondo passed away in September 6, 2021, aged 88. Among Belmondo's awards are the title of the Commander of theOrdre national du Mérite(1994), the Commander of theLégion d'honneur(2007), César Award forItinerary of a Spoiled Child(1989), the Career Achievement award of Los Angeles Film Critics Association (2010),La Palme d’Or d’Honneurof the Cannes Film Festival (2011), and the Golden Lion Honorary Award of the Venice Film Festival (2016).
