José Ferrer (1912-1992) was a Puerto Rican actor who became the first Hispanic actor to win an Oscar when he received the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1950 for the title role inCyrano de Bergerac. He also won a Tony Award and was nominated for an Emmy for playing the same role on stage and on television, respectively. He was married to actress/singer Rosemary Clooney, and was the father of the late actorMiguel Ferrerand the uncle of actor/directorGeorge Clooney.
